Evidence Based Teaching Practices:
Understanding Behavior:
All Behavior has a function or reason for recurring:
- Provides sensory input or relief
- Escape avoidance
- Attention-seeking
- To get a desired item or activity
We use evidenced based strategies for managing behaviors by:
- Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Being proactive by reinforcing positive behaviors
- Using token boards and behavior contracts
Positive reinforcement through verbal, non-verbal, and tangible items helps avoid triggers while setting the stage for success.
